Saw Mill Club’s swim team, is an age group United States Swimming competitive program for athletes ages 6–18. The team competes in USA swim meets in the Metropolitan LSC. The competitive swim season begins mid-September and continues through mid March. From April through June the team has a Spring Training program; our goal for spring training is to get back to basics, working more on stroke drills, starts and turns, and racing technique. We also continue to work on improving endurance, but that is secondary to technique work. Spring training is a more relaxed atmosphere, without the pressure of impending meets.
Days and Practice
Times vary according to the age of the swimmer. We offer flexibility within the practice schedule, affording swimmers the opportunity to continue with other after school activities. Weekly practice requirements and availability vary with the participant’s age.
- Children age’s six to ten are required to attend practice at least three a week.
- Swimmers age’s eleven and older are required to attend practice at least four times a week.
We encourage our swimmers to attend more practices than the required number. With approval from the head coach, swimmers may be allowed to practice up an age group. As part of the swimmers training program, we offer the option of adding one or two dry land practices for an additional fee.
Tryouts
Sept. 6th, 7th, 8th and 9th. Swimmers must be on deck promptly at either 4:00pm or 5:00pm on any of the four days. No registration necessary for tryouts. Must come prepared with cap and goggles.
Packets with fees, practice schedules, holiday schedules and meet schedules will be handed out once the applicant has been accepted on the team.
