About Connie’s Bakery & General Store
Connie’s Bakery & General Store is a socially-responsible bakery and gift shop based in downtown Mt. Kisco. Connie’s partnered with Northern Westchester Hospital to open a second location in the hospital’s main lobby. The goal for both stores is simple – the more we sell, the more we can give away to charity. 100% of Connie’s net profits are donated to charity. Foundation Sweet Success has been established as the giving vehicle for Connie’s Bakery & General Store. Six non-profit organizations are selected each year as Connie’s charitable partners and funds in the foundation are divided equally among them. In addition to receiving a financial contribution, we promote our Partners in our stores and on our website in order to draw attention to the great work they are doing.
Purchasing decisions for both our bakery and retail stores are made, whenever possible, to support small farmers and craftsmen. We also make it a priority to sell items produced by companies which are themselves socially responsible. All of Connie’s incredible cookies, cakes, pies and tarts are made by hand, using only the finest ingredients available.
In addition, Connie’s provides a hand-up for our neighbors who have faced a variety of barriers to sustainable employment. Our employees take part in a full-time, paid baking apprenticeship program, during which they train under Executive Pastry Chef Simeon Manber, a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America and former Assistant Pastry Chef at Babbo, Mario Batali’s flagship restaurant. At the end of their apprenticeships, Connie’s helps these employees use their new skills to move into higher level jobs in the food service industry.
