As a resident of South Salem, a teacher at John Jay High School, and a cancer survivor myself, I am asking for support with my mission to fight Leukemia and Lymphoma.

On Sunday, April 25, 2010, I will be competing in an Olympic Triathlon in honor of those inflicted with these blood cancers. In addition to training for this event, I have committed to raising $4100 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS), whose mission is to find a cure for Leukemia, Lymphoma and other blood cancers. Your donation will go towards much-needed research and treatments.

My Honored Heroes…

I am dedicating my Triathlon to the following courageous individuals:

Lily Restivo, a very brave 7-year old girl, recently diagnosed with a blood cancer.
Like many little girls, Lily enjoys attending school and playing with her friends; however, unlike most, Lily is unable. This past May while Lily was preparing for an ice skating competition in NYC, she began having pains in her legs. Soon after, Lily’s condition was diagnosed as Acute Lymphatic Leukemia. After having a permanent port put into her chest, Lily began receiving chemotherapy treatments, which will continue for two years.

John Hurley, a highly respected and dedicated vice-principal at John Jay Middle School.
After a couple of weeks of feeling lousy, a prevailing low-grade fever, and multiple tests, John was diagnosed with Leukemia in May 2007. Within days, he underwent grueling chemotherapy treatments. Although these treatments ended over a year ago, the ongoing battle to maintain strength remains.

In memory of John O’Dell, my dad.
He was diagnosed with Stage 4 Leukemia the day before Christmas last year.  After a valiant and courageous fight, he lost this battle only 10 days later.
