Encore! Dance Arts at Saw Mill Club offers dance education with “dedication to vision and assurance of excellence” for all students from early childhood to young adult.


The dance season runs from mid September through May (Memorial Day Weekend). Students enroll for the entire season. The season ends with our annual Spring Concerts. We also offer an extended dance program throughout the month of June for students who wish to participate.

In addition, Encore! Dance Arts and Saw Mill Early Childhood Education Center offer “lunch bunch” to all preschoolers. Parents may bring young dancers to SMC after preschool with a bagged lunch. After lunch the dancer will be escorted “down the hall” to dance class.

Directors
Diane Clark, KJ Hubner, Dale Sue Kolanko and Lori Strelec-Reynolds combinetheir twenty-five years of teaching, performance and production expertise to offer their students a curriculum that reflects their backgrounds. Their resumes include Dance Degrees, Broadway, National Touring Companies,
National Ballet Companies, International Choreographic Credits, and extensive Early Childhood teaching credentials.

Curriculum

First Steps
This class provides a gentle introduction to the world of dance for the very
young.

Combination Class
This class develops the young dancer’s body awareness by incorporating Jazz
and Tap.

Ballet Arts & Pre Ballet
These classes introduce training that is technically correct yet age
appropriate and safe for a child’s developing neuromuscular and orthopedic
physiology.

Jazz Funk/Hip Hop
These classes include the fundamentals of isolation, patterning, and spatial
awareness. All music is age appropriate.

Modern
This class is the exploration of design through space in time. A modified
Horton technique is used to warm up the body.

Classical Ballet
For ages eight and up, graded classes in Cecchetti and Vaganova techniques
covering bane, center, adagio and allegro work.

Pointe
For advanced students on recommendation of instructor only. Pointe work
should be attempted only when the bones have ossified (hardened), otherwise,
malformation of the feet may occur. Recommendations are made on an
individual basis.

Jazz For intermediate and advanced students.
These classes emphasize the centering and isolating of body parts and stress the importance of emotional interpretation and performance style.

Theatre Dance
This class reconstructs show stopping choreography by such renowned choreographers as Bob Fosse, Michael Bennett, Ron Field, Gower Champion and others.

Master Classes
Guest Artists teach throughout the year.

Conservatory
For serious students in seventh to twelfth grades who wish additional work. This program is by audition and requires mandatory attendance.

Jazz
For intermediate and advanced students. These classes emphasize the
centering and isolating of body parts and stress the importance of emotional
interpretation and performance style.

Theatre Dance
This class reconstructs show stopping choreography by such renowned
