Family Day at the Emergency Room
Northern Westchester Hospital is pleased to provide an opportunity for children and their families to become familiar with the hospital in a fun and friendly manner outside of a medical visit or emergency. To do this, we are conducting an interactive child-friendly Teddy Bear Clinic designed to help put children at ease when they visit the hospital.
The teddy bear is a symbol of comfort and caring – the Teddy Bear Clinic shows children that the hospital is a caring place where they can receive comfort when they are sick. The clinic “admits” teddy bears to the hospital. Each admission receives an ID bracelet, is weighed and measured, and will have their blood pressure taken. Children can also see various treatments and equipment demonstrated on their bears.
The NWH Teddy Bear Clinic is a positive learning opportunity for children to experience first-hand what might happen if they visit their doctor or the hospital emergency department. We hope that by providing this opportunity to visit the facility meet and learn from our medical experts, that we can soften the fear and anxiety that children may feel when they visit their doctor or hospital.

The Teddy Bear Clinic is scheduled for Saturday, March 19th from 9 am – 12 noon.
